2021 Loveblock Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc – Estate
“Bursting with energy, the 2021 Sauvignon Blanc (Marlborough) offers excellent concentration of freshly cut pineapple alongside lemon sherbet and peach. There’s a subtle green background note of capsicum and gooseberry displaying the variety’s spectrum of flavors. It has a powerful core and sinew on the long, fragrant finish.” 92 POINTS
2021 Loveblock Marlborough Pinot Gris – Estate
“The 2021 Pinot Gris (Marlborough) is pretty and aromatic, offering melon fruit flavors, sweet apple notes and floral characters. There’s the merest hint of sweetness in this just off-dry style but it is perfectly offset: the tension provided by the natural acidity of Marlborough’s cool Awatere Valley provides a line through this rounded, balanced and satisfying expression. Cleverly handled, with the pretty aromatics lingering.” 91 POINTS
2020 Loveblock Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc – Estate
“A rather elegant and reserved Sauvignon Blanc. There’s a sense of tranquility through the silky midpalate, with toned-down Marlborough aromas of honeydew melon, pear and elderflower. A little residual sugar (5g/L) gives a lick of sweetness on entry and fleshes out the palate, but the sweetness is balanced by the gently refreshing finish (although I’d personally prefer to see it even drier). A textured, restrained impression with partial fermentation in neutral oak and 20% malolactic conversion.” 90 POINTS
2020 Loveblock Marlborough TEE Sauvignon Blanc – Organic
“Get your tie-dye tee on, mainstream Sauvignon lovers – this is an organic, vegan-friendly wine. What’s more, they’ve used green tea powder instead of sulfur to prevent oxidation, and it’s as kooky as it sounds. The nose is offbeat and offers up a different aroma on every sniff, from green apple and fresh pineapple to chamomile, violets and herbs. It’s certainly intriguing and keeps you going back. Full and round in the mouth, with a lick of residual sugar (6g/L) filling out the midpalate. What’s more, one-third of the wine has been fermented in neutral barrels and this portion underwent malolactic fermentation, softening out Sauvignon’s sometimes angular frame. It offers gentle freshness and lovely mouthcoating texture on the finish. Atypical, but that’s a-okay with me.” 91 POINTS
2019 Loveblock Marlborough TEE Sauvignon Blanc – Organic
“The 2019 Sauvignon Blanc TEE (Marlborough) is Loveblock’s no-sulfur-added Sauvignon Blanc. Instead of sulfur, green tea is used as an antioxidant, although from the color and the flavor development, it shows oxidatively made characters: a deeper hue verging on gold rather than the green/silver of protectively made Sauvignon, bruised red apple flavors and rounded edges. It’s a powerful, weighty and mouthfilling style with light tannic grip. It would be difficult to guess this was a Sauvignon Blanc in a blind tasting, with its apple, cooked pineapple and mandarin characters. That said, it has an impressive structure and will really appeal to those looking for something different from their Sauvignon.” 92 POINTS
2019 Loveblock Central Otago Pinot Noir – Estate
“Fine, fresh and fruity, this is a light-bodied, aromatic style. There are also lifted florals and smoked game to add to the sweet black fruit. While attractive in youth for its vivacity, there isn’t a great deal of depth nor length. Drink now to three years.” 87 POINTS
